A red leather sample book of thread from French dye company Renard, Corron, Bonnet et Cie. This book is from the Autumn 1897 collection. Books were produced for the Spring and Autumn season and distributed from the Lyon-Saint Etienne area in France, the company's head office being in Lyon. The inside front cover features a list of associated firms from which the company's wares could be purchased, and the rest of the book is dedicated to wrapped samples of thread, listed with their collection name and number. While the numbers are printed, the collection names appear to be handwritten. The book is heavily water damaged and has significant scratch and rub damage on the covers. The binding is delicate and has been repaired in part by two pieces of book tape, one at the top and one at the bottom. Some of the dyes from the threads have run and many of the samples are loose in the book or missing entirely.Use
