Skein Winder: Leesona industrial skein winder. Powered by an electric motor. Manufactured c. 1950. Used at the American Thread Company's Willimantic Mills, Willimantic, CT, which acquired it from the Standard Mill Supply Co., Pawtucket, RI. Although belt driven, it is powered by a Baldor electric motor. Its counting mechanism was manufactured by Veeder-Root of Hartford, CT and Switzerland. Its on-off switch was manufactured by Allen-Bradley. The Leeson family founded the Universal Winding Company in 1893. In 1959, it changed its name to the Leesona Corporation. It is headquartered in Burlington, NC. Baldor Electric was founded in 1920 in St. Louis, MO, moved to Fort Smith AR in 1967, and was bought by ABB Ltd. of Switzerland in 2011. The Allen-Bradley Company was founded in Milwaukee, WI in 1903 as Compression Rheostat Company, changing its name to Allen-Bradley in 1910. It was purchased by Rockwell International in 1985.

Plummer, Dale donor. This machine was once owned by the American Thread Company. Plummer acquired it after ATCO closed its Willimantic plant in 1985, to use in a small textile manufactoring mill he operated in the old Ponemah Mills in the Taftville neighborhood of Norwich, CT.
