Photos of One of the American Thread Company's Southern MillsEntry/Object ID
2023.45.1Description
Eight professional-quality black-and-white photographs taken at one of the American Thread Company's Southern mills -- probably the mill in Marion, NC, which was not far from Asheville, NC. They were taken in January 1966 by Putnam Photography Studio, 63 Elkmont Drive, Asheville, NC. Seven of the photos are glued to pieces of Bainbridge Board. The eighth (the only one labeled) is matted. On the reverse of the matted photo is written in pencil: "Foster winder -- 10 / Helen Brown -- winder operator -- after twisting, / Yarn is wound on springs or cones prior to packing for shipment / to Sevier for finishing / HELEN BROWN." "Sevier" refers to another one of ATCO's Southern mills, in Tennessee.Photograph Details
