Name/Title

Spool of Thread

Entry/Object ID

2023.50.3

Description

Wooden "spool" (in reality, a tube, as it lacks lips on the ends), of blue cotton thread. One end of the spool reads: "American Thread Co., Succ'r [Successor], 2 Ply, Mercerized Cotton, Fall River, Mass., U.S.A." Other end of spool reads: "Kismet, No. 00, 1200 Yards."

Use

Because most sewing machine thread was 6-ply, this is perhaps embroidery thread.
