Description

Gold and seed pearl tie pin in its original boxes. One box labeled "J. C. Tracy, Willimantic Connecticut, Jeweler."

Context

According to the 1912 Willimantic Directory, John C. Tracy was a jeweler and optician with a store or office at 688 Main Street in Willimantic, CT -- on the south side of the street, roughly across from Church Street, a building demolished in the 1970s as part of urban renewal. Tracy's residence was at 125 Summit Street. Tracy had a large advertisement on the cover of the 1912 directory. Although the cover is worn, it can be made out as advertising diamonds, watches, and silverware; French and American clocks.
