Willimantic Linen Co Ceramic Jug

Name/Title

Willimantic Linen Co Ceramic Jug

Entry/Object ID

2024.26.1

Description

A brown glazed ceramic jug with "Willimantic Linen Co" stamped opposite the handle. The opening has a lip inside which suggests it once had a lid. On either side of the jug are small handprints which left marks in the glaze, and there are two spots where the glaze has turned yellow. The Willimantic Linen Company was formed in 1854, though for most of their operation they made cotton thread rather than linen cloth.
