Newspaper clipping of Hattie Hill meeting with chapter regents of DAR. Clipping from the Norwich, Conn., Bulletin, dated October 10, 1956. Hattie Hill (at right), here identified as Mrs. Charles W. Hill, met with chapter regents of the Daughters of the American Revolution, or DAR, in the capacity of state corresponding secretary. Also in the photograph, left to right, are Mrs. James R Case, regent of the Governor John Trumbull chapter in Lebanon, CT; Mrs. John Dyer Potter, regent of the Faith Trumbull chapter; Mrs. Charles Hitchcock, regent of the Anne Wood Elderkin chapter; and Mrs. Phillip V. Tippet of Ansonia, CT. The Daughters of the American Revolution are a non-profit organization "dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and securing America's future through better education." The DAR is open to "any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence."Collection
