2025.26.01Description
Scrapbook. Kept by Eugene S. Boss of the Columbia Exposition (World's Fair) in Chicago, 1893. Boss was both the Superintendent of the Willimantic Linen Company in Willimantic, CT, and the Vice President of the Connecticut delegation to the Exposition. He went to Chicago to set up both the Connecticut pavilion and the WLC's booth. The scrapbook is 66 pages. The paper was probably originally an off-white or light brown, but has yellowed and darkened with time. All of the original pages have been torn over time. The majority of the items pasted into the scrapbook are newspaper articles, but there are numerous illustrations, as well. The pages have been laminated and bound.Context
Scrapbooks were commonplace in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, before there were photocopiers, digital photography, or microfilm.Collection
