Description

Three foldable rulers. The top ruler is metal, tri-fold, and has a fitted brown leather case. It is from the Lufkin Rule Co. which began in 1869 as a manufacturer of measuring equipment for logging and is still in business as the Crescent Lufkin brand. The second ruler is wood with metal hinge and ends. It is bi-fold with an extending caliper at the end. It also features a small pin closure to hold the ruler stay folded when not in use. It is from the New York Belting and Packing Co. which was established in 1846 and primarily dealt in rubber goods. The third ruler is very similar to the second in its wood and metal construction with extending caliper and pin closure, though the wood is cracked just below the caliper. It was made by the Chapin-Stephens Co. which was formed by merger in 1901 and specialized in carpentry tools.
