Name/Title

Photographs of Demolition of Mill No. 6

Entry/Object ID

2025.103.01

Scope and Content

87 color prints of the demolition of Mills No. 5 and 6 and Brick Dye House, American Thread Company, Willimantic Mills. Taken c. 1990.

Context

After the American Thread Company closed its Willimantic plant in 1985, it was sold to Jonathan Dugan, a Hartford developer with Willimantic roots. In order to create sufficient on-site parking for development, several of the newer (but less well built) mill buildings were demolished, the largest of which were Mill No. 5, Mill No. 6, and the Brick Dye House.
