Christening gown for Camilla Krzyzewski made by her godmother Katherine Gilmartin. The outfit includes a slip with a crocheted top, a dress which is sheer with polka dots and ribbons, and a coat embellished with crochet flowers. It also includes a crocheted cap. The entire outfit was originally white but has yellowed with age.
Camilla's parents, Mary Maziarz and Bronislaw Krzyzewski, were both Polish immigrants. Mary and Katherine moved to Willimantic from Wallingford to work at the American Thread mill.
Camilla was born December 7th 1923 and would have been christened either later that month or in January 1924. She had two children, Frederick (1948) and Cynthia (1954), both of whom wore the gown for their christenings at St Joseph's Church. Camilla's granddaughter, Jennifer Curry, was christened in the gown in April of 1989 at St. Philip Church in Ashford, CT.Collection
