Description

A black and white photograph of the Thread City Cyclers basketball team and their coach. The photograph is adhered to a beige mat which has three pin holes across the top. From 1901 to 1902 the Thread City Cyclers club hosted a basketball team which played games locally in Willimantic, CT as well as out of town. The club hosted a number of other athletic teams but was founded in 1890 strictly as a cycling club. It catered to the local wealthy families since at the time of its inception bicycles were beyond the means of the average mill worker. It still exists as a cycling club as of 2024.
