A United States Airforce dress uniform 1957-1961

Use

In 1949 the first Airforce-specific service uniform was created; the winter blue-shade 84 service dress uniform.

Context

The owner of these dress blues was Alfred Pierce Beckwith who served in the USAF from 1957-1961 and in reserves until 1963. Born November 11th, 1935 in Windham, CT, Beckwith enlisted with his cousin John "Skip" Doubleday who was a resident of Lebanon, CT. During his time in the military, Beckwith worked as an aircraft mechanic in KS on jets. During his lifetime, Beckwith was a lifelong resident of Windham, CT and was the owner of Al-n-Son small engine repair. Beckwith's own father was a carpenter who built and worked on the Windham Town Hall.
