Brit Magna Hansen-Stomner
The seniors of Snow Hill High School have a proud addition to their class. Yes, the foreign exchange student, Brit Hansen Stomner from Kongsvinger, Norway.
This attractive senior has the type of personality that makes you feel as if you have known her all her life. She has blonde hair, hazel-colored eyes, a neat appearance and a smile to great everyone.
It was an exciting moment in the homeroom of the seniors when our principal, Mr. Layman, introduced Brit. We all began talking to her at the same time. The trouble was that we talked so fast that she could not understand us.
It was a hard job to get acquainted with our school system, and she had such problems as finding the right classroom and getting her locker combination working correctly. Each and every senior and the teachers were so kind and understanding that after a while it all became easier for Brit.
Brit was born in Kongsvinger, Norway on March 16, 1942, to her parents, Ingrid and Arne Hansen-Stomner. She has a sister Anne-Guro Hansen-Stomner, age 15.
Brit's American "parents" are Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Bounds of Newark, Maryland. She has a "brother", Paul, age 7, and two "sisters", Elaine, age 10 and Sue Ellen, age 17.
Brit attended elementary school and high school in Kongsvinger, Norway. The high school system is quite different in the fact that they have 13 years of schooling. Brit has a varied schedule in extra-curricular activities. She is vice-president of the math club, a member of the Student Council, and she is on the basketball team. Brit's hobbies include needle-work, keeping a scrapbook, photography and fishing.
She is taking the academic course and hails trigonometry as her favorite subject.
When Brit finishes high school in Norway, she plans to take up dentistry for her profession.
We all join together to wish Brit the best of luck in her future plans. Surely we shall all remember our first foreign exchange student.
