Young Australian Seeks AFS Home in Snow Hill
The Snow Hill American Field Service Chapter has received application papers from AFS/New York for a sixteen-year-old boy from Australia who hopes to live with a family in the U.S. during the school year 1976- 77.
He lives in a small town in New South Wales and is accustomed to life in a farming and historical resort community. English is his native language and he writes of interest in a variety of sports. His spare time is spent listening to records
and playing the piano but he holds a part-time job whenever possible.
They are trying the "reverse placement" system this year in hopes that they may locate a family for the applicant whose papers they now hold; however, the chapter is not obligated to accept this student but may ask that other applications be sent.
Families interested in participation in the cross-cultural experience which AFS offers are invited to call Mrs. Charles Fulton, 632-2421 or Mrs. S. Sidney Cropper, 632-1521. The only family requirements are good health and a separate bed for the student.
There are no restrictions on age of parents or size of family. Single parent homes have worked successfully as well as homes with two parents and no children or no teenage children.
Anyone interested in hosting a student (but this particular candidate would not be suitable), can call the AFS representatives listed above and discuss their ideas with them or call the local high school and leave their name for a return call.Relationships
