Miss Strickler To Be AFS Student To Turkey
SNOW HILL - Cherie Strickler, 18, of Snow Hill, has been selected as an American Field Service exchange student.
The young woman, a 1979 graduate of Snow Hill High School, will leave June 25 to begin her 10-month visit and learning experience in Istanbul, Turkey.
Miss Strickler will first attend an orientation program at C.W. Post University, Greenvale, N.Y. for two days before embarking on her first foreign trip.
Her host family in Turkey are the Halil Anli family. The father is a farmer, the mother, a housewife, and the couple's four children are: two sons, Sertag, 24, a university student, and Mustafa, 20, a businessman, and two daughters, Selma, 22, a medical school student, and Hiilya, 14, a high school student.
The family lives in a three bedroom apartment in Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey.
Miss Stickler is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Strickler of Snow Hill. She is also one of four children. Her sisters and brothers are, Cindy Strickler, 20, and Chip 16, and Chris Strickler, 15.
