TEAMS LOSE BI
Girls Upset by Pocomoke
On October 25th in the last home game of the season, the Eaglettes opposed the Stephen Decatur Sea Hawks. The Eaglettes were victorious by a 3-0 margin, and goals for Snow Hill were scored by Sheila MacKenzie and Linda Taylor.
The Eaglettes then traveled to Pittsville on October 31st to meet the vengeful Pittsville Wildcats. The Wildcats were seeking revenge, since their only loss thus far in the season had been at the hands of Snow Hill. However, the Eaglettes were again victorious with a score of 1-0. Tallying for Snow Hill was Linda Taylor.
On Thursday, November 2nd, the Snow Hill teams traveled to Pocomoke to vie for the Worcester County Championships in soccer and field hockey. Since the Eaglettes had lost to Pocomoke in previous competition, it was necessary for them to defeat the Warriorettes to even tie for the Championship.
Eaglettes Lose Title
Playing on a dangerously slippery field as it had rained since the start of the game, the Eaglettes were able to match only one goal scored by Janet Townsend to Pocomoke's tally. Thus the game ended a tie, and Snow Hill relinquished the Worcester County Championship, which the Eaglettes had held for five consecutive years, to Pocomoke.
Although the Eaglettes did not win the Championship, they attained the best overall record in the county with six wins, one tie,
and one loss.
Snow Hill's Sheila MacKenzie drives the ball towards the net during the Stephen Decature game. Sheila scored 2 of the Eaglettes 3 points.Language
