This is a miniature version of a flat basket used to sift acorn flour, created by noted Miwuk weaver Jennifer Bates. The pounded acorn is placed on the tray and sifted to separate larger particles for additional pounding to form a fine flour. Jennifer informed us that she had begun the start on this basket and as she worked a little further along, the basket told her this is what it wanted to be.Collection
