33.01 Knife: Leaf-shaped blade widening slightly toward the point with hexagonal globular recessed bolster. Ivory handle carved as the full length figure of a male savage having negroid features and naked but for a short leaf (or feather) skirt and a cloak of the same material hanging down his back, somewhat unconvincingly held in place by a string of beads around his neck. He wears a pointed cap with a baggy back-swept crown and a broad fur? band at the bottom. Note: One arm has broken off the figure.
33.02 Fork: Iron two-tined fork head with short baluster neck of flattened octagonal section incorporating a bolster en suite with the knife. Plain silver ferrule. Ivory handle carved as the full length figure of a female savage, pairing with 33.01 and dressed similarly except that she holds a feather fan in her left hand, and wears a back-swept spray of feathers on her head, secured by a twisted cord.Collection
