Description

Blade with almost parallel back and edge, and leaf-shaped point, linked by a short, slender, bolster to the handle; the base of each face is etched with a panel containing a foliated scroll bearing a rosette and surmounted by scrolls: the bolster is chiselled with acanthus foliage bearing traces of gilding. Handle tapering, of hexagonal section, formed of alternate squares of tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl in chequer-work, on a wood base; each tortoiseshell square is engraved with a double scroll; the domed top is surmounted by a brass button shaped finial.
