Description

The blade sabre-shaped, the upper edge profiled. It is etched with a floral scoll and the inscription \"maria/trauet/gantz/allein/gott wol/lhr/Rechter/ Brautegam/Sein. Anna 1778 (ie. Mary wed only God, who was her true bridgegroom). On the other side is etched a rococo scroll, the inscription \"Mit/Gott\" (with God), a woman in contemporary dress holding an open book and IWSL (the L superimposed on the S). The handle is flaring and circular in section of horn stained brown in a diaper pattern of cross strapes. The combing in between has been done with a feather. The stamped cap and ferrule are of pewter.
