The blade gently tapering with an engraved close-plated, silver upper edge, the drop bolster of silver, the handle with tortoiseshell scales overlaid with stamped pierced, silver decoration incorporating cupids, turtle-doves, and a male and female profile in ovals under lambrequins, jesters and an acanthus scroll. The silver sides hatched and engraved with acanthus.
Decoration, consists of the following on each side from bottom to top:-
(a) A putto under a tasselled canopy, holding a cornucopia aloft in his left hand, and in his right, a pair of dividers measuring on an armillery sphere.
(b) A bird holding a branch in its beak, under a canopy, perched on an oval cartouche framing a profile bust, on one face, a man, and on the other, a woman (the top of the head of female bust missing)
(c) A phoenix in its nest, on top of a rectangular cartouche, framing a standing male figure of uncertain style.
(d) A scroll of conventional foliage.Collection
