Description

191.01 Case: A travelling case of wood covered with black shagreen with hinged lid and base in silver. There is a further lid in the base, which reveals a space for a thimble on one side and space for a seal on the other. 191. Knife: Blade 191. Silver spoon with screw thread to fit a handle (the spoon has a rat tail bowl). 191. A silver spice or snuff spoon with a long slender handle. 191. Combined ear and tooth pick. 191. Folding ruler with 6 inch divisions marked at intervals of 8th of an inch (but this only measures 5 3/4 ? ruler). 191. Ivory jotter of rectangular shape with the top edge cut decoratively with a central stud or washer in the centre of the top. 191. Steel lancet for bleeding, with tortoiseshell scales. 191. A (? cork) screw with a hole through its central part threated at the top to fit a handle. 191. Pen knife blade with screw thread to fit handle. 191. Bodkin with screw thread to fit handle. 191. Marrow scoop with screw thread to fit handle. 191. Fork with two tines with screw thread to fit handle. 191. A silver handle that pulls apart to reveal a smaller one (191. ) and within this a third handle (191. ). 191. A fluted silver pen, with gold nib in 3 pieces 191. In the base with a decorative seal matrix, bearing inscription \"vivar unis\" around the edge, surmounting a wreath and a pair of kissing birds below. This seal has a light purple colouring, like amethyst. It still contains wax from its last use perhaps to seal a letter. The whole of this third of the base is hollow to contain the gold nib. The central portion screws into the hollow end of the seal, which contains a male thread. A small cap fits over the other end.
