Blade with straight back, convex edge, leaf-shaped point and short, flat bolster. Handle of silver of flat, oblong section, the top widening into two asymmetrical scrolls; the two wider faces are entirely decorated with panels of engraving, partly against a nielloed ground, as follows (starting at the top in each case):-
Obverse:
(a) sprays of foliage involving a man (a fool ?) aiming a gun (nielloed).
(b) A representative of Belshazzar's Feast, with the writing on the wall.
(c) A spray of flowers, involving a monkey pulling a cat's tail (nielloed).
(d) A lady in the costume of about 1600, standing under an arch.
(e) A vase containing a flower and scroll-work (nielloed).
Reverse:
(f) sprays of foliage and flowers, invovling a man (a fool?) carrying a lantern with a dragon behind him (nielloed).
(g) A representation of Daniel in the Lion's Den (?).
(h) A spray of foliage, involving a man (a fool?) with a dancing bear (?)
(i) A man in the costume of about 1600 standing under an arch.
(j) A spray of foliage and flowers under a bucranium (nielloed).Collection
