Description

Blade straight with almost parallel sides and a triangular point, integral with a short bolster. Slightly tapering ivory handle continues the line of the bolster and has a deep cap made en suite with it; it is inlaid in black-stained ivory with two rows of elongated triangles, with their bases on a central band inlaid with black circular pellets between a pair of narrow black lines; the bolster and cap are encrusted with scroll-work, rosettes and cherubs' heads in beaded frames, all of silver against a gilt ground.

Company Connection: Mark granted to John Wessell in 1607 and to the widow of his partner Awsten Johnson in 1612. Wessell was a freeman, probably before 1606. Johnson was a freeman before 1603.
