Description

Souvenir stuffed animal representation of "Jiggs," the US Marine Corps mascot, a bulldog. With wool felt exterior, red, with yellow details on muzzle, top of head and back, and on tail. Plastic eyes. Printed in yellow on either side is the US Marine Corps logo, and "U.S.M.C.A.S. / CHERRY POINT, N.C.". Souvenir's original maker tag or label is still attached to a string tied around the dog's neck: "MASCOT / 'JIGGS OF THE / US MARINES'" along with manufacturing information. Also, a handwritten inscription in blue ink by the original owner of this item: "Sent to me / in 1942 from / my sweetheart."
