Helmet, U.S., M1. Front seam, fixed bail. Overall painted olive drab. A dark gray band painted around botton 2" or so of helmet. It has also been marked "BARNEY" in smaller white letters perpendicular to the edge of the helmet in the very back. The name has been underlined twice in white. Also in the back of the helmet, above the "BARNEY" is "7th BB" in large black letters, somewhat worn off.
With the helmet, catalogued as item B, is the appropriate helmet liner. The liner is marked with the SSI of the 29th division in front, appx 1 9/16" in diameter. On the back of the liner is a white rectangle appx 7/8" high and 3.25" wide. The bar indicates the wearer was an NCO.Update Date
