Photograph of Major Herren returning from a mission and Lieutenant Colonel Leafs. Back of photo provides context that plane in background is from 434th fighter squadron which artist Sgt. Hayner reports carried a circle on rudder rather than the triangle reported in some books. Back of photo reports that Major Herren would later be KIA while flying in foul weather over Europe. Photo originally taken circa. 1943-45.
