Description

Stradivarius Violin, 1754; Black wooden case with date Oct 2, 1888 and GSB stamped on hinge; orange colored lining; Two bows. Label inside violin reads: "Antonius Stradivarius Cremonenfis, Faciebat Anno 1754, with a small logo of a cross above AJ, within a circle". Compartment holds an A string tuner, and 4 gut strings. It was purchased from the G. H. W. Bates Company, Boston, MA and brought to Montana in 1890; came to Yellowstone Valley in 1891. It belonged to donor's (Carra's) father Eugene P. Wright.
