This is in the museum's interactive display. This is the first version of the Number 8 Hex that Chouinard Equipment manufactured. The reason we can date it, is that it is a symmetrical design. In later years, the hex would be produced with an asymmetrical design, allowing it to be utilized for more crack widths. It has a longer sling attached to be able to wear over your head and shoulder.
