Hemp climbing rope owned by John Salathe tagged with "Salathe Matterhorn 1957" John Salathe's climbing rope. Given to John Thune Jr. in 1957 when Salathe retired from climbing. Donated by John Thune Jr in 1992 Hammer owned by John Salathe given to John Thune in 1957 when Salathe retired from climbing. Aid climbing rack owned by John Salathe given to John Thune in 1957 when Salathe retired from climbing. Includes 5 carabiners and 12 pitons bound with hemp rope. Many pitons were made by Salathe himself. John Salathe's Long arrow pitons. Given to Joh Thune Jr when Salathe retired from climbing in 1957. Donated by Thune in 1992 John Salathe's ring wafer piton given to John Thune, Jr in 1957 when Salathe retired from climbing. Donated by Thune in 1992 Three WW2 surplus ring angle pitons which belonged to John Salathe. Salathe's smaller arrow pitons given to John Thune, Jr in 1957 when Salathe retired from climbing. Donated by Thune in 1992 Mini angle piton from Salathe's rack, not made by Salathe Spoon blade pitons owned by John Salathe Piton with Short rounded blade with characteristic ridges known to be Salathe's mark Aluminim oval carabiner. Possibly made by Salathe or a WWII biner from the 10th Division. Diamond P stamped next to gate. Salathe's trademark. Pitons from 1930's/1940's; either found or used by Robin Hansen. In May 2007 Hansen donated a collection of pitons to Ken Yager and YCA. Two very well crafted pitons. Possibly made by Salathe Bolt made by Star called a Star Dryvin Bolt, aluminum hanger made by John Salathe.
