Description

A photo of Bill "Dolt" Feuerer by Tom Frost

Context

Dolt was the best equipment maker for climbing gear in the fifties and sixties. He was involved early with the first ascent of The Nose. The story goes that Dolt received his nickname "Dolt" while climbing on The Nose. He forgot to tie himself in while on a ledge and scared himself enough to back out of the ascent. He continued to supply gear to George Whitmore, Wayne Merry, and Warren Harding who completed the ascent in 1958.
