Context

Royal Robbins took a fall on this nearly cutting the cord, on the second ascent of the Muir Wall on El Capitan in 1968. Royal was the first person to do this route solo. This is an early prototype of Chouinard's RURP. You can tell because later on they were a slightly smaller, without the arm that the cord goes through.
