Name/Title

Swaged Wire PECK nut

Entry/Object ID

2026.1.65

Description

A nut made by PECK on swaged wire

Use

Designed to fit into narrow, tapered rock cracks, locking securely when weighted

Context

Another nut manufactured by PECK. The swaged wire design was manufactured circa 1964 and seemed safer than nylon rope. Often climbers would have to check the knots on the rope to avoid them becoming loose. Swaged wire designed nuts only had to check for damage from bending, which was less often. Stamped with PECK UK and A 16 on the other side.
