Description

Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and blue wool, double cloth. Center seam joins two panels. Hemmed top, fringed sides and bottom. Central motif is a modified representation of the capitol building in Washington D.C. with two flags flying on either side of the dome, stars surrounding the dome, and the scales of justice atop the dome. This motif is repeated throughout the coverlet. The depiction is encircled with a wreath of laurel. Between the capitol building are two circular designs, one of a four part floral design and the second a stylized leaf design with a star burst center. Borders on each side contain circular rose patterns with starburst centers.
