Franklin, 1747. iv, 64pp. With the bookplate on verso of the front free endpaper of the noted pioneering Americanist, George Brinley. "This series of letters once erroneously ascribed to the pen of B. Franklin by Sabin [citing the catalog to the Menzies sale] was printed originally in London" - Miller. Miller locates ten copies. With the exception of this same copy that was sold at the Stuart Karu sale at Sothebys June 16, 1992 RarebookHub lists copies at auction in 2019, 2017, and 2008, all of which were stained or damaged, and prior to that one has not been on the auction market since 1906.

Small 4to. 19th-century triple gilt-ruled brown morocco, raised spine bands, compartments gilt triple rule, Elaborate inner gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers, T.e.g., housed in custom cloth clamshell box with green morocco spine labels. Very old water staining, each leaf interleaved, else very good.
