Folding Table

BG-2024.0028

Description

This is an example of an Abercrombie & Fitch folding table that was also offered in a more elaborate, black-lacquered 'chinoiserie' style. The table is notable for folding across the middle of the table rather than side-to-side. Unfortunately, the deco-style locks on the underside (the same style used on the Arthur Popper sets of the late 1930's) are not well-suited for supporting the table in a firmly locked position, and no longer support the table in an open position. The 1.5" checkers and 'doublock' cube included in the picture are not original to the set, but are contemporaneous pieces that suit the traditional 1930's "backgammon colors" of the field.
