How to Play Backgammon

Description

In addition to the success of his several revisions and reprintings of 'Backgammon in 20 Minutes' in 1930 and his follow-up book in 1931, Harold Thorne produced the first ongoing newspaper column devoted to backgammon positions -- and the only such column until the late 1970's. Thorne's column runs for a whopping 50 installments. The column also may have offered the first transcription of a complete backgammon game of the 1930's boom. A close reading of this series will reward the reader with many vivid glimpses of how the game was played in 1930, from chouette scoring to general etiquitte.
