Description

An autographed four-page program of Geraldine Larsen's performance titled "Magical Mysteries: Fashions in Fantasy."

Use

The program was used by patrons who were attending Larsen's live performance as a tool to learn about the event's acts and the performer herself.

Context

Born in 1906, Geraldine Larsen was a magician, author, TV personality, and editor. Larsen was the daughter of Samuel Conrad, a builder of illusion and magic performance materials. Larsen began performing magic around the 1930's and in 1939 was the first women to appear on television performing magic. Later on in the 1950's, Larsen began hosting her own show called "The Magic Show" on ABC. Larsen also contributed in organizing the first women's magic club called the "Magigals" and was the club's first President. Larsen has written several books, such as "Peterkin the Magic Rabbit," "The Diary of a Magician's Wife." "Nothing Up Her Sleeve," and "Murdered by the Devil." Larsen was also the editor of Genii, a magazine focused on magic. Larsen passed away in 1998 at the age of 92.
