Inscription from original dustcover adhered to back of frame: "William Adair McDowell, M.D. / Born March 21st, 1795 / Died December 10th,1853 / Drawn by his daughter / from a faded Daguerreotype May, 1912." Matted in wide, light colored wood (ash?) frame.
