Description

Bible with hardback, blue velvet cover edged with brass trim. A brass latch holds bible closed. On the front cover is a small, shield-shaped cartouche reading, "HOLY / BIBLE." On one of the front flyleafs, written in ink in Henry Clay's hand, "To Mrs. James B. Nicholson / from her friend / H. Clay." A modern paper label on next page reads, "March 25, 1969 / Gift to the Henry Clay Home / from / Dr, Margie Nicholson Burks, Greensboro / Green County Georgia." Information on the title page. Bible identified as "The Holy Bible / containing / The Old And New Testaments." (Oxford: University Press, 1850).
