Description

Red satin badge (ribbon) with gold clasp at top and brass fringe at bottom. A rimless medallion hangs from an overlapping piece of white satin. The white satin has 2 U.S. flags crossed on it. The disc has images of Col. Wm. R. McKee and Lieut. Col. Henry Clay Jr, who were killed at the Battle of Buena Vista. Gold-embossed on the red satin, "1846-1898 / Annual Reunion / Kentucky / Mexican Veterans / at / Harrodsburg, KY. / Sept. 20, 1898.'" On the back of the medallion is stamped, "Whitehead and Hoag Co., Newark, N.J. / Badges / P.T / June 1894." Sewn to the back of the ribbon is an original manufacturer's label for Whitehead and Hoag Co listing main office and patent dates.
