Description

Thin silk ribbon printed with image of an eagle standing on a shield at the top, Clay in the center, and two horses pulling a plow with a farmer in tow at the bottom and a house in the background, identified beneath as "The Ashland Farm." At the top of the ribbon is, "WHIG DISTRICT / CONVENTION." The eagle is holding a banner in its mouth that reads "Protection of American Industry." Inscribed on remainder of ribbon, "HENRY CLAY /The fearless Friend of his Country's Rights /LYNCHBURG, October 8th 1844/ Lith. by Weber and Co. Baltimore."
