This object includes three parts: The invitation and the envelope, which is torn into two pieces. Invitation is a rectangular piece of paper with black print on one side, "PAPER WEDDING, / Mr. and Mrs. John M. Clay / AT HOME / Monday Evening, July 8th, 1867, / AT 6 O'CLOCK." Invitation has turned a light brown, probably from acidity. With the invitation is a paper envelope, the flap of the envelope being separated at some time. Embossed on the envelope in small raised letters: "Neale & White. / Lexington, Ky."
