A) Gold oval brooch with two locks of hair inside. Back of pin engraved "W.A. McD./ 1819 / M.H.H." with a simple pin clasp. Brooch contained in what is believed to be the original jeweler's box.
B) Jeweler's box is rectangular white cardboard box with lid. Inside top of the lid in red is a lion in a shield and the text: "The Loring Andrews Company / Jewelers, Silversmiths and Importers. / 117 East Fourth Street. / Cincinnati." The box also contains two notes.
C.) In pencil: "To be marked / W.A. McD. 1795-1853 / Married 1819 / M.H.H. - 1799-1877."
D.) In ink: "William Adair mcDowell / Born May 21st 1795 / Died December 10th 1853 / Marryed [sic] in 1819 / Maria Hawkins Harvey / Born Aug. 30th 1799 / Died Aug. 20th 1876." (Note the discrepancy in death dates of Maria Harvey).Dimensions
