Oil on canvas portrait in heavy gilt frame with oval window. Unsigned. The frame has a manufacturer's label adhered to the back, blue and white print, "Established 1858 / Sherk Bros. / Fine Arts / Artistic / Picture framing, / Reguilding / Artists' materials / etc. / 151 Lawrence St. / Brooklyn, NY. / Artistic picture framing / is a specialty for which we have gained - / reputation. A picture may be spoiled by inap- / propriate framing and its charm may be much / increased by a proper and artistic frame. We are / always at your service to discuss much matters." On the back of the canvas is stenciling, partly hidden by the stretcher. It reads in part, "By / [illegible] / London."
