Two elaborate velvet curtains. The main fabric is a maroon velvet. The bottom is edged with a gold colored velvet trim, about 13" wide. On the gold velvet is a trellis or criss-cross pattern, also made of gold velvet. There is a silk knotted fringe, made of gold and maroon thread, all along the bottom edge of the gold velvet. On the top of the curtains is a braided trim, 1" thick, also made of gold and maroon thread. About half-way down, there is an embroidered pattern of stylized flowers, and off of this hang more tassles. Along outside edges there is more silk braid. The curtains are backed with a vanilla colored silk. They were hung with brass hooks, some of which are still attached to the curtain, in the holes on the top. Thick maroon and gold pulls are included. The curtains puddled on the floor when hung in the original room.
