Engraving of original design for tomb of Henry Clay. Engraving is of a catherdral-like structure in a park-like setting with people strolling about. Attached to a tree in foreground is a sign reading: "Journal of Progress." Underneath image is inscription: "Engraved expressly for Progress of the Republic and entered According to Act of Congress. VIEW OF MAUSOLEUM TO THE MEMORY OF HENRY CLAY at Lexington, Kentucky, By J.R. Hamilton, Architect, Cincinnati, O. This design was selected on the 12th of April 1855, by the Committee of the "Clay Monument Association", in a general competition of upwards of 100 designs. Engraving is framed and matted in modern gold frame.
