Description

A coin silver coffeepot. The pot has a pedestal foot and urn shaped body. The handle has floral finials, a silver thumb stop, and ivory insulators. The spout is decorated with leaves and flowers. The body of the pitcher has a band of grapes and grape leaves at the top and beading where the body joins the foot, at the bottom of the foot, and around the top. The lid is hinged and has a pomegranate finial. The bottom of the body is stamped twice inside the foot with the maker's mark: "Whartenby." Between the maker's mark are two numbers that have been scratched in: "23250" and "2024." The meaning of these numbers is unknown.
