Colored lithograph of "Battle of Buena Vista," published by H.R. Robinson in 1847. Image shows battle scene in a valley, mountains in the background to the left. Troop lines, encampments, weapons are depicted. The image is signed "T.Palmer" in lower left corner. In fine print beneath image: "From a sketch taken on the spot by Major Eaton, aid de camp to Genl. Taylor.--Lith. pub. & printed in colors by H.R. Robinson, 142 Nassau St. N.York." Across the bottom of the print (hidden by the glass border): "Battle of Buena Vista. / View of the battle-ground and Battle of 'The Angostura' fought near Buena Vista, Mexico, February 23rd 1847 (looking southwest). / Entered according to act of Congress in the year, by H.R. Robinson, in the clerk's office of the district court of the Southern district of N. York." In a heavy gilded frame with the title and black border painted on the inside of the glass.
